KompUEterchen4KMU – Usability Engineering of Mobile Software for SMEs
Mobile enterprise software become increasingly useful to integrate the employed field staff into the internal information logistics within small and medium enterprises (SMEs). In terms of usability, mobile software systems have special requirements that causedfails of many such projects in the past. Neither current software engineering methods nor current approaches of usability engineering are suitable for the implementation of mobile solutions by SMEs for SMEs.
Being part of the research project > KompUEterchen4KMU ("Usability Engineering of Mobile Software for SMEs"), the m²c-lab of the University of Applied Sciences Aachen and its partners created a software development method for SMEs which does not only consider technical methodologies, but also focuses on usability engineering. With this development method, competitive and user-friendly mobile applications can be created, from which both the SME as the developer and the SME as the user can receive economic benefits.
The project was funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and is part of the funding initiative "Mittelstand Digital" with the focus on "Easy and intuitive – Usability for SMEs".
